Working with New Arrivals, Theory into Practice- a workshop for libraries

Updated: Aug 4, 2023

Organised by SWRLS-funded Peninsula of Sanctuary Libraries Project, this is a brilliant opportunity for you to join a half-day workshop in person on 13 September 2023 at Plymouth Marjon University OR attend core elements of the workshop via Zoom if travelling to Plymouth is difficult for you. It's open to any library staff working in any library in Devon, Cornwall, Plymouth or Torbay.

If you are coming in person, the session runs 10.00-14.30 and includes lunch.

The workshop will focus on developing achievable, practical ideas to apply in your own library, building on the online training we ran in the Spring. It will include a number of lightening talks from libraries already doing excellent work in this area, including public, HE, FE libraries as well as a keynote from John Vincent. Those attending in person will also receive support in developing your plan of action.

Confirmed lightening talks include:

Melissa Steiner, Birkbeck, University of London: Inclusive Academic Libraries - welcoming people seeking sanctuary to Birkbeck Library

Nicola Hopkins, Hampshire Libraries: Working with New Arrivals in Hampshire and becoming a Library Service of Sanctuary.
