Governance

SWRLS is an Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that reports to the UK Charity Commission. Our activities are governed by the SWRLS Constitution.

Our mission is:

To facilitate the collaboration of libraries, information services and cultural organisations to develop staff, services and resources that are inclusive and which encourage and enhance lifelong learning within the community.

Decisions are made by a board of trustees that meets four times a year. Our trustees represent public, academic and special interest libraries and they bring a wide range of experience and knowledge from the libraries and wider cultural sectors.

Trustees are elected annually at our AGM, with a third of trustee places voted on each year.

The board of trustees employs a part-time coordinator to oversee the day-to-day running of the organisation.

Legal and financial information about SWRLS, including accounts, can be viewed on our Charity Commission page.
