This year’s AGM welcomed SWRLS members to Exeter College on Thursday 13 November, where we also introduced the ACE-funded author tour for 2026: Words Alive in Libraries: Life Writing, Wellbeing and Nature.

It was also excellent to hear from four librarians from among our specialist library members, from the Marine Biological Association and Science Museum Library at Wroughton to NHS health libraries. Thank you to Carol Giles, Amy Williams, Stella Scott and Bethany Courtney for such interesting and informative talks and to everyone for
such an open and insightful panel-audience conversation.
We look forward to progressing the ideas around health literacy, with aims to develop Basecamp resources and potentially training. We are also currently running this survey to help inform any resources/training in terms of what SWRLS members would find helpful – we’d appreciate if staff at member libraries can take a moment to complete.

After lunch we walked to Exeter Cathedral to visit their Library & Archives and Treasures exhibition, followed by a guided tour of the RAMM.
Please be in touch if you're a member with any further thoughts on or requests around this or indeed other aspects of SWRLS’s work, or if interested in joining SWRLS: coordinator1@swrls.org.uk
