Bristol Baptist College, a special theological college, has enrolled with SWRLS following a recommendation from Sarum College, another specialist library and SWRLS member.

Meantime, discussions continue on possible transfer of its functions to the Arts Council England.
Once the outcome is known, SWRLS is committed to establishing a working relationship with the relevant successors.

Exetre Univerity Library is in the middle of a major rebuild and are disposing of some of their book trolleys, free to anyone who can collect them.

The British Library have just added 12 millon records to WorldCat.
According to the British Library, WorldCat is an increasingly important resource used to expose its holdings worldwide, and for supporting a number of its core services including resource sharing and document delivery.

They recognise and celebrate the achievements of extraordinary adults who have transformed their lives for the better, and who can inspire others to give learning a go.

LLUK are now revising the Information and Library Services, Archives Services and Records Management National Occupational Standards (NOS). They are seeking feedback from now until 26 November.
There are currently two suites of NOS for the Information and Library Services, Archive Services and Records Management sector - one aimed at managers and practitioners and a second which is applicable to staff in operational roles.

As part of SWRLS' continuing commitment to supporting training and ILL work, we will be sponsoring two places on the day, plus a contribution to travel costs.
If you would like to apply for a free place, please send a short summary (up to 300 words) to director@swrls.org.uk by 8th November, indicating what benefit you would derive from the day. If your application is successful you will be informed by 15th November and your place will be paid for in full. Following attendance, send in a report of the event and £50 towards travel will also be paid.

Cyprus Well, launched its new online Community Network on the 9th September at an event in Exeter attended by writers, readers, publishers, bookseller and librarians, the very people it is designed for, by offering them a free networking platform to exchange news, promote events and make new partneships for literature development.
Access to the site is free and everyone can use it for latest literature news, reviews and offers from the membership. Please note that both the NVQ and the Progression Award close for registration on 31 December this year and at the moment there are no replacement qualifications available for either of them. So any new staff wishing to do these courses would need to register by September at the very latest..
